Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery of Chester County

Paul S. Kim, MD & Gary F. Wingate, MD

PRP has been used by the medical community for years. It has been used in wound care, cardiac surgery, orthopedics, neurosurgery, sports medicine, general surgery, dentistry and cosmetics. Here at Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery of Chester County, we are using PRP for hair restoration and skin rejuvenation.

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is obtained from the patient’s own blood. The blood contains platelets which work to repair damage within the body. The platelets have growth factors which stimulate collagen production. This aids in the skin rejuvenation process.

Skin Rejuvenation

PRP is injected into the skin to stimulate collagen production and to rejuvenate and repair the skin’s cells. As a skin rejuvenation procedure, PRP is an anti-aging treatment that may be combined with microneedling or dermal fillers depending on the patient’s needs. It can be done on the scalp for hair loss, face, neck, décolleté, knees, elbows, stretch marks, wounds and scars.

Hair Loss/Thinning

PRP is injected into the scalp where the hair is visibly thinning or missing. These injections increase the survival of the hair follicles and stimulate new hair growth. There is also improvement in the thickness and health of the hair shaft.

PRP has been used successfully worldwide to treat patients who suffer from hair loss or thinning hair. We are pleased to offer this treatment to our patients. PRP is effective for both men and women regardless of age.

Don’t waste time losing more hair!
